Seismic Hazard Updates

Through the seismology projects in the 1990’s a large, regional earthquake database has been established and maintained.

The task will include:

  • National/regional hazard calculations.
  • Establish new source models.
  • Evaluate seismic activity with particular emphasis on historical and recent instrumental data.
  • Special attention to a unified magnitude scale, and to the mapping and quantification of local faults.
  • Compute hazard based on attenuation models developed from regional data.
  • Incorporate the latest approaches to quantification and management of uncertainties in ground-motion models and hazard analyses.
  • The most recent fault models will be used.
