In 2009, a three-component Guralp CMG-3E broadband seismometer was installed in a concrete pit on the lower part of the Åknes rockslope. It has been continuously recording data since then with sampling rates of 40 Hz and 200 Hz. The station is part of the NORSAR station network, and its data are accessible through standard FDSN and EIDA web services. The figure below shows only the short-period vertical component records for a chosen day and bandpass-filtered between 2 and 80 Hz..

On June 1, 2022, the pit was struck by a large rock block that damaged the instrument. Data are not available from this date until the station was reinstalled on November 28, 2023.
