Seismic modelling

NORSAR is a world leading provider of seismic modelling software. Our software is used to perform a wide range of tasks. The software can be used for seismic surveys, seismic evaluation and planning, seismic modelling and simulation, and generation of synthetic seismic data. It can, for example, improve the seismic acquisition, processing and analysis of exploration data. It provides better imaging of the subsurface and helps to reduce risk & cost in oil exploration activities.

Seismic modelling is a particularly important tool in seismic exploration. That is why we are constantly developing our seismic modelling techniques. NORSAR's modelling technology, including our seismic ray-tracing modelling, is the most advanced technology on the market. It is widely used by the oil and gas industry to plan seismic surveys and to analyze seismic data. All the major oil companies are among our customers.

Microseismic

NORSAR is the world's leading center of expertise for microseismic analysis and software solutions. We detect, locate and interpret microseismic events in oil and gas production, water injections, large-scale CO2 injections and underground gas storage facilities. The monitoring of seismicity and its effects, has allowed us to develop a unique expertise in this field. Microseismic monitoring reduces operational risk and contributes to an increase in the utilization of oil reserves in a safe manner. This monitoring technology is also important to ensure the safe storage of underground nuclear waste, mining and the harvesting of geothermal energy.

We are constantly working to improve the technology. As the world's leading competence center within this field, we are involved in industry and research projects, including those funded via the Research Council of Norway and the CLIMIT program.
