NORSAR considers it valuable to have a spotlight on the requirements from the EU Commission and to focus on gender balance in research and innovation activities. NORSARs Gender equality plan will be a dynamic and useful contribution that will make gender equality work as a natural part of our daily management, research and innovation activities.

NORSAR is subject to the Gender Equality and Discrimination Act, which requires all employers to work actively, purposefully and systematically to promote gender equality and prevent discrimination in the workplace. This Act was amended on 1 January 2020 to provide a more comprehensive description of organizations' obligations to conduct gender equality promotion and discrimination prevention activities, and to report on this annually. NORSAR's GEP will meet the new national legal requirements as well as the requirements from Horizon Europe's work program.
